Hidden Treasures Candle Review!

You know how much I like Diamond Candles, right? Well, there’s a new candle in town that has a treasure hidden inside – they’re very aptly named Hidden Treasures and the item you’re likely going to find inside is a necklace. The cool thing about a necklace is that it should fit everyone!!

First let’s talk about the candle itself, then we’re going to talk about the prize inside. These candles are soy based and are pretty slow burning. They cost $24.99 and the shipping is $5.99 for the first candle (second candle in the same order ships free). I haven’t found any coupons for free shipping on these. The scents currently available are shown below.

I selected the Southern Vanilla one because vanilla is my very favorite scent! I was not disappointed by the warm vanilla scent of this candle. I feel it’s a mixture between vanilla and a cake batter type scent, which I’m sure is pretty easy to understand as they’re both similar most of the time anyway.

The candle arrived packed in bubblewrap with a little treasure map looking thing attached on the side. Presentation wise, it was very nice looking and I think anyone would love to get this as a gift. You can note that there’s an “X” that marks the spot of your treasure (like any good treasure, duh). I peeled the X off to see what the side looked like and I took a photo – it’s a silver looking circle that shows where your item attaches to the side. Man, mine was far down – I knew it was going to take a while to get to it!

Here’s their disclaimer on the site: “Please allow candles to burn down to reveal your treasure. If you dig out the treasure there is a good chance you will damage the item inside. Hidden Treasure Candles will not replace a broken treasure.” That’s good advice, but these candles seem to burn much slower than the other soy ones I’ve been buying – so be aware you may not get your treasure for a few days! I think I waited at least 4 days before the foil packet started showing (and that was burning it all day long), so those who are impatient – work on it because you don’t want to damage your treasure!!

The size is the same as the other candles and you can see I took a side-by-side photo for comparison. I know the companies likely don’t want to be compared, they each offer their own scents, their own surprises, and their own packaging/ideas, but since I was familiar with the other one I wanted to see the size difference and they’re pretty darn close in size.

OK so now onto the prize! As I mentioned before, everyone loves a treasure hunt and these candles did not disappoint! I mentioned earlier that it was likely you would find a necklace inside your candle. The reason I said likely is that there’s a chance you’ll find something else. I had my eyes set on finding an ipad (well, a code for one), but it wasn’t in the cards. The kids were funny though with their, “There’s no way an iPad would fit into that candle, but if there is one can I have it?” Hahaha, silly kids! Below you will find the breakdown of the prizes other than the standard necklace that you could find inside if you’re one of the luckiest people around!

*Oh and they have revamped the wording on their site saying one grand prize winner in every batch of 500. So you have a 1/500 chance to win big! The big item comes in a treasure chest, so be on the lookout. You’d get a treasure chest and a code to contact the company with since they can’t fit an ipad in a candle, and they wouldn’t want to chance anyone breaking the expensive necklaces!

Every 500 Candles sold, one lucky customer will win a grand prize. Most batches will have an iPad 3 as the treasure!
It seems after 1-2 ipads are found, one lucky customer will receive a Le Vian Necklace! This necklace sells for $999!
After ipads and the Le Vian Necklaces are found, one lucky customer will receive a Tiffany & Co. Pendant! This necklace sells for $5000!

So, since we’re talking about what you can find inside – here’s what I found inside of mine…

Isn’t it cute? It’s silver color with diamond looking chips in it. It’s shaped like a piece of candy and I think it will look super cute around Christmas time! Of course Cheech wants to wear it now and will likely swipe this from me – she takes almost all of my candle loot – but I still love getting them and having the fun reveal!
