“Do you know What’s in the Bible? Is it true, is it reliable?”

That’s the start of just one catchy tune that your kids will be singing after watching this set! My kids love this set!! They have DVD #1 and DVD #8 so far and they are hooked! I hadn’t heard about these until my kids came home from their aunt’s house talking about this hilarious DVD that they watched about the Bible. Now how many times can you say that? It’s hard to present the Bible stories in fun ways with them also being educational, but that’s just what this series has done.

Genesis talks about the book of Genesis, where the Bible comes from, how many books are in the Bible (66 in case you wondered), and more! They do that all while throwing in some facts, fun, and songs. The kids are learning while having fun so it doesn’t feel like learning – brilliant!

The series says, “with Buck Denver” and I asked the kids who that was and apparently it’s one of the puppets (the anchor of the Jelly Telly news. I thought it was the guy who appears and talks to the puppets, but I was informed by then that his name is Phil Vischer. I found a webpage that tells all of the puppets names who  appear on this show (which seems to be Focus on the Family approved as it says their name at the top left on that page). My kids like the scientist, Dr. Schniffenhousen, because his name is fun to say. They also love love love the theme song and have been singing it around the house for weeks now.

I wanted to tune this show out upon first glance as it seemed cheesy, but after sitting with them to watch it I can say that I learned stuff too. I also grew to like the puppets more than I thought I would as they’re puppets and my kids are 6 and 8. I think small kids would like the songs and characters, but they wouldn’t really “get” the point; however, older kids seem to like the songs and puppets too and can answer questions I quizzed them on after the show.

The series is planning on covering the entire Bible and Christmas. You can see clips from many of the videos on their site.

Here’s the list of the Books of the Bible Currently Covered:

  • DVD #1 – Genesis
  • DVD #2 – Exodus
  • DVD #3 – Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy
  • DVD #4 – Joshua, Judges, Ruth
  • DVD #5 – 1 and 2 Samuel
  • DVD #6 – 1 and 2 Kings, 1 and 2 Chronicles
  • DVD #7 – Ezra, Nehemiah & Esther
  • DVD #8 – Psalms, Proverbs & The Writings
  • DVD #9 – Isaiah, Jeremiah & the Prophets
  • The Christmas DVD

I like that the entire Bible will be covered and I can’t wait to hear more of the New Testament as the shows get released. There’s a preview or trailer for each DVD over on their website, so if you’re debating on one versus another you can get a feel for them over on their website.

They cost $14.99, but you can save 20% off your order of these DVDs by clicking here to order!

That link saves you $3 on each DVD. I found the checkout similar to Diamond Candles, in that you go through checkout and can enter your discount code on the last page. You can also change to paypal after you enter the coupon code…just proceed like normal Credit Card at first. I have a screenshot for you from when I went through with the coupon code and added one to the cart and when I added two to the cart so you can see the prices. With the discount, one comes out to  $17.82 shipped and two comes out to $25.66 shipped ($12.83 each). It’s a much better deal if you order two DVDs at a time – so get volumes 1 and 2 (or whichever ones you want) together to save on shipping.

Whether you are in charge of a Sunday School class or just want to watch with your kids – I’m sure you will learn something along with the kiddos! You can find What’s in the Bible on facebook in case you want to see what others are saying. I want to get the Christmas one next, but I hope to collect them all over time.

Here’s a clip from the first five minutes of DVD #1 if you want to get a feel for it. Ask your kid to come check it out and see what they think about it.

Oh and they also have a refer a friend program where you can send your link out to your friends and if they buy a DVD you can earn store credit to save up for your next order! Actually you can earn cash or store credit, but they offer 50% more if you ask for store credit – that’s the way I’m going until I have my set complete.

Do you want to win a copy of the first DVD – Genesis?? I have a rafflecopter form below that you can fill out for your chance to win!

*Disclosure: I received a copy of this DVD to facilitate this review. They are also giving away a copy to the winner via the sweepstakes. My refer-a-friend link is in the post above too. I was under no obligation to write about this and the opinions are my own.

I have never seen these, but I think the DVD #3 would be a great and interesting way to present some books that you don’t hear very much about!
