My sister-in-law told me tonight that I need to use my K-mart / Sears Shop Your Way reward points before they expire tomorrow. I was like what? I then spent an hour looking for my card, which I never found. So she gave me their customer service number (Phone: 1.800.991.8708 – open 8AM-11PM, CST, 7 days a week) and I called and found out that I have some money on my rewards account. Woo!
Based on what the cashier told her, they expire today. Now based on what I see on their website that’s not necessarily true…
The terms website say this: ALL POINTS EXPIRE AT THE END OF THE CALENDAR QUARTER FOLLOWING THE TWELVE (12) MONTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DATE THE POINTS WERE EARNED BY THE MEMBER. Calendar quarter end dates are December 31, March 31, June 30, and September 30. For example, points earned on November 1, 2010 will expire on December 31, 2011.
Sorry for the all caps, it’s the way they have it. Anyway, so it really depends on when you earned your points, but knowing that some could expire tomorrow it may not hurt to run by for a quick look. That’s what I’m telling myself and my husband anyway. I mean, I’d hate to have perfectly good money expire. And I love shopping after Christmas clearance, so it’s a double score!
Anyway, just a little possible public service announcement in case this applies to you too. Oh and you don’t have to have your card, but you will need to know your pin. The 800 # above will have some info for you and their website may have more. Good luck and I hope you find money you didn’t realize you had.
