Have you heard about the Smartcard program at Fred’s? It’s basically a free rewards card that pays you back for shopping with them. I have used my CVS card for years, so when I was asked if I wanted to do a review and a giveaway for Fred’s new program I jumped at the chance. When my Smart card arrived in the mail I was happy to see that it has one that you can put in your wallet or two to put on a keychain – pretty standard I guess, but still worth mentioning.
Since we were still in school supply shopping mode Chee and I hit the road to go see what our $20 reward credit would buy! When we first walked in I had to take a photo of the Fred’s scavenger hunt guy. I remember the old “Fred, quit giving away the store” commercials and wondered if it was the same guy. I noticed that this guy was asking me to win some prizes – that’s when I became aware of their new promotion.
“Fred’s Explore the Store” is a game where you get game pieces with every purchase (and bonus pieces when you buy certain items). You can see from my photo in the gallery that they have these little tags on items throughout the store where you can get game pieces. You have a game board and you match the pieces to the board and try to collect all pieces from the section to win! They have $150,000 cash, a $150,000 home mortgage, 5,000 Fred’s shopping spree and a whole lot of other prizes! That seems neat and I will certainly try to see what I can win – after all I love sweepstakes!!
Chee and I walked over to the school supply isle and took a quick look around. We had been riding bikes outside that morning (so forgive her crazy hair). The back to school area was easy to find as it’s the featured area smack in the middle of the store right now. I love that they have the seasonal aisles in the middle of the store because they’re very easy to find! We got her new teacher some tennis balls for the bottoms of her classroom chairs! They were $3 per pack of four and I realized that the teacher would be super happy to get these.
We went to check out and the lady told me that I should have registered the smartcard online to use the rewards, but after she rang up the items and hit “total” the little card swipe thing said that I had $20 in rewards, would I like to use them now? Heck yeah, that was super easy – I just hit “yes” and then I was able to walk out of the store with my packs of tennis balls for free!
I think with this new program, Fred is still giving away the store!
Here are some details of their Smart card program: In April, Fred’s launched a rewards card called the Smartcard. Shoppers who show their smartcards when checking out receive points on all of the Fred’s brand items they purchase. These points are redeemed quarterly, and the resulting smartbucks spend like cash – good for anything in the store.
Fred’s has a facebook page if you have anything you want to say to them, but they also have a FAQ link to help you with any questions you have about the program. July 26 was the first point redemption. We’re going to send the winner a smartcard, pre-loaded with enough points to get $20 worth of items free at Fred’s – so, basically a gift card good for anything in the store.
Who wants to win a Fred’s Smartcard with $20 in rewards already pre-loaded on it? Enter the Rafflecopter form below and we’ll announce the winner shortly after the drawing 9/4.
