Coupon with your kids – they learn more than you think

I think it’s strange that this schoolwork made me proud. While we were at Parent-Teacher conferences I saw this hanging up on the wall that the boy had done as classwork. I asked her if she had helped him to know that 4/$5 means $1.25 times 4 and she said that she did not. He’s just starting multiplication & division and let’s not even talk about the whole quarter involved. If it were $5/5 I wouldn’t have cared, but 4/$5…that’s couponer’s math right there!!

Couponing with your kids teaches them about money!

In his example, he realized that the instructions said “less than $5″ so he marked out the biscuits. He did make a rookie mistake though, that chicken is 99 cents a POUND. I guess he’s just buying a pound’s worth.  Ah the little things.

Handy for math
